I’ve been experimenting much less in the kitchen since our baby girl was born last month. We had the pleasure of friends sending us home cooked meals for a couple of weeks, then we ate our way through the freezer, or I focused on familiar, easy or quick dinners as we adjusted to being a family of five.

We’re still adjusting, trying to find that new routine; the new normal. Some days, it feels like we’re inching closer and closer to routine whereas other days seem like they may never end. I was determined to be able to share these garam masala steak sliders with you, they make a great dish for a Father’s Day BBQ, a great appetizer for a large crowd or a simple dinner on a quiet night in.

I’m trying to re-commit to a gluten-free lifestyle and the smells of the Indian spice rub that I used on the steak made me decide to make a batch of my gluten-free naan rather than serving the sliders on a traditional bun. My three-ingredient naan made the perfect vehicle for the meat, and a red onion mayo was very easy to put together to tie together the dish.

Oh, there were these guys on the side too..

Red Onion Mayonnaise

Ingredients

  • 1 Red Onion
  • 1 Teaspoon Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Veganaise
  • 1 Teaspoon Olive Oil

Preparation

Melt the coconut oil in a skillet. Dice the onion and fry on a medium-low heat, stirring every five or six minutes so the onion doesn’t burn. Keep the onion on the heat for fifteen to twenty minutes, until the onion starts to caramelize.

Allow the onions to cool, the mix with 1 tablespoon of vegan-mayo and drizzle a teaspoon of olive oil.

Garnish with fresh parsley.

If you are cooking for a special occasion, perhaps Father’s day, then you’re going to want to make these garam masala steak sliders with the best ingredients you can find. This is why I used KOL Foods Ranch Steaks. I always find that KOL Foods meat has a quality and taste far superior to any other meat I have eaten.

This is true of their meat, poultry and salmon. Attention and care given to make sure that the KOL Foods herd is 100% grass fed and completely organically raised. If I am not mistaken, KOL Foods is the only kosher organic supplier of meat and poultry that does not finish their herd on a corn-based feed, which is just one of the reasons that it is my meat of choice.

You can find all of my KOL Foods recipes here.
