#KCKBBQ 2013: Kansas City Kosher BBQ Festival

Published On 1 July, 2013 | Kosher

In honor of Kansas City's Kosher BBQ Festival, I am dedicating the month of July to the fine art of BBQ.  On August 18, 2013, 20 teams of BBQ enthusiasts will compete in the second annual #KCKBBQ festival, and this year, the contest has been sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society.  Last year, it was an honor to attend the event as a judge, and this year, I sit on the organizing committee and am pleased to share the news that Iron Chef America Judge, Simon Majumdar will be joining our judges.

BBQ means something different in this part of the country.  It's not hamburgers and hot dog on the grill, it's a low-and-slow art that requires stamina and dedication.  There are dry rubs, sauces, wood and smokers to consider, but it's really not as complicated as it all sounds.  It just takes a little practice.  To get you in the BBQ mood, I'll be sharing a number of recipes and techniques throughout the month of July.

Here is a sample of some of the posts coming in July and you can see all my BBQ recipes here

So, if you're ready for BBQ, book your tickets to Kansas City, save the date for August 18, 2013 and visit the official website to sign up your team.  #KCKBBQ is happening… don't miss out.
